Freshman Drivers Have It Rough at Phoenix

Yahoo! Sports has a great article up on how difficult it is for freshman drivers to master Phoenix and finish near the top in their debut races.

"Statistically Speaking: First impressions" runs through the outcome for several first-time Phoenix drivers and has this to say about Bobby Labonte's debut at the track in 1993:

[B]obby Labonte finished in the top 10 in his freshman campaign of 1993. The Rookie of the Year battle was all but a foregone conclusion at that point of the season – with Jeff Gordon stealing the show – but Labonte carried the day by finishing eighth.
